Biography:
Marion studied macrobiotics in the 1970's and 80's with many leading teachers, including Michio and Aveline Kushi. She graduated from the Seventh Inn Restaurant training program in Boston, U.S.A. and from the Kushi Institute and went on to teach and cook at the Community Health Foundation and the Kushi Institute in London.
During this time Marion met her husband Richard and together they ran a macrobiotic student house and started their family. Marion has seen how the daily preparation of delicious and nourishing meals has created a strong foundation for her five children and for the family as a whole. As well as cooking everyday for family and friends and teaching, Marion has had many years experience cooking for private clients.
Now teaching from her home in Highgate, North London, and at other schools and centers, Marion offers a wide range of cooking courses and classes suitable for beginners as well as those with more experience. Marion also runs a cooking referral service - Macrocooks - training and recommending cooks to work in clients' homes or to cater for parties, conferences, retreats, and camps.
Marion is passionately concerned about the harmful effects of climate change and global warming and is working with others to find and implement solutions to these pressing issues. As someone who has brought up a family and lived healthily herself for more than 30 years on a diet that centers on the use of grains, beans, vegetables, sea vegetables, fruits, seeds, nuts and minimum use of animal foods, Marion feels that she is well placed to share and offer advice on diet that suits both personal and planetary well-being.
For relaxation and enjoyment Marion likes to walk or be in nature, grow organic vegetables, fruit and herbs, and spend time with family and friends.
