Becoming an accredited macrobiotic practitioner
The Macrobiotic Association has set up training standards in three healing arts to promote high standards of practice, and to promote a wider recognition of the macrobiotic approach to living and healing in our society. Anyone can apply to become accredited by the association in any or all of these.
Becoming accredited has the following advantages:
- It gives you the reassurance that you have reached a widely accepted standard in your macrobiotic healing art.
- Being able to say that you are accredited with a professional organisation will raise your profile with the public.
- You will be able to have your photograph and details on the Macrobiotic Association website, giving you greater publicity through this well used website.
- You will be contributing to setting high standards of practice in macrobiotic healing arts, helping to promote the credibility and effectiveness of the macrobiotic approach to healing in the UK.
- The law in this country is moving towards all complementary health practitioners being regulated by professional organisations. The Macrobiotic Association is working to provide accreditation for the macrobiotic healing arts so that these can continue to be practiced into the future.
The Macrobiotic Cook & Health Advisor is seen as the first and fundamental level, enabling a person to provide excellent healthy food for others and give general guidelines on living a healthier macrobiotic lifestyle. The Macrobiotic Specialist Cook & Healing Guide has all the skills of a Macrobiotic Cook & Health Advisor plus a deeper understanding of practical macrobiotic healing and a higher level of refinement in cooking. A Macrobiotic Counsellor has developed all the skills and knowledge of the above two plus much more extensive knowledge of what can go wrong in the body and how to aid people in their path of healing.
The normal path is for people to first become accredited as a Macrobiotic Cook & Health Advisor, and then possibly go to be accredited as a Macrobiotic Specialist Cook & Healing Guide, and then possibly onto accreditation as a Macrobiotic Counsellor. Accreditation for each is through a day’s assessment by the association’s Practitioner Committee.
